Subject: Your Magic-Deck "Graveyard Shift" Date: Mon, 22 Jun 1998 13:14:38 +0100 From: "Egelhof, Tobias" To: "'Tave'" CC: "'Magic Dojo'" Hi! My Name is Tobias and I saw your Deck in the Deck-Workshop in the Magic-Dojo. I tried a similar Version of your deck in some local tournaments and worked on it for a long time. The difference is, that I only use the Tombstone Stairwell and Altar of Dementia as finishing combo (with the Altar you can sacrifice the Tombstone-tokens to mill yourself getting more creatures in your graveyard and end with about ten tokens the turn after you dropped the Stairwell). The problem was, that I didn't get the combo often enough so I fist worked with Natures Resurgence to get the cards. Here's a temporary version of the deck: Land: 2 Pine Barrens 10 Forest 8 Swamp Spells: 4 Natures Resurgence 4 Altar of Dementia 4 Tombstone Stairwell 4 Llanowar Elves 4 Birds of Paradise 4 River Boa 4 Dauthi Horror 2 Uktabi Orangutan 4 Nekrataal 2 Lhurgoyf 3 Karoo Meercat 1 Dauthi Mercenary Sideboard: 4 Emerald Charm 2 Dread of Night 2 Uktabi Orangutan 2 Forsaken Wastes 2 Scragnoth 3 Blossoming Wreath It didn't work very well, so I removed the Resurgences and tried the weenie-control with more black creatures because of many Perishs out there, which leaded to a Light of Day against me on the following tournament and I lost permanently against white weenie (which is very popular these days). Now I have build a version with blue (Man'O'Wars and Tradewind-Riders) for more control, and less offensive creatures like Bottle-Gnomes and Wall of Blossoms and it worked well in playtesting but has not yet prooved in a tourney. I do not have a listing of the deck right now, but I can send you one, if you like. Do you have ideas on how to improve the deck? Maybe some kind of combination between our strategies... Tobias
