Subject: Secret Green Tech update 3 Date: Thu, 11 Jun 1998 17:47:04 -0400 From: "Jamie & Mare" Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy For everyone who looked at the deck - well - many of you expressed disappointment that it could not handle certain kinds of decks and also were surprised that it is not the new necro. Well - I said that. Its mono green. Jeez! I hope you have as much fun playing it as I do - and I hope you will try it this weekend in a tourney. And post a report - to the Dojo and to this strategy group and most importantly - to me! I have recieved one tourney report so far from Joey Bonacia who took the deck to a top 4 in a 12 person tourney. I also have been working on the deck quite a bit, and it is the only deck that I have been playtesting for weeks on end now. I still love it. I love playing green, and I concentrate harder on playing green because I don't feel quite so disgusted playing it. (because I do feel disgusted playing my red burn, my blue bounce and my black Living death - o.k.?) This deck reminds me a lot of the deck I took to regionals. - Tons of weaknesses - true - but also tons of strength. Went to the shop again last night for one of C&C's non sanctioned WITH sideboards tourneys. We had eleven people show up and I tied for first with the deck. I beat a non standard black deck that got horrible draws. Then I beat a 5cw deck with tradewinds, a D5C, and then took my only loss to a tradewind, manowar, wall of blossoms, birds, kinda blue bounce thing. But I took her to three!!! Luckily - I never had to play off against Alan's resurected "Call of the Owl" deck. Holy God that thing is freaking brutal! Sorry - can't send you a listing for that as he will probably be playing it in the Meat Grinder. But anyway. If you are happy with the deck - please play it this weekend if you can find a tourney and then post a report. How's my testing going? well - I keep changing it - but each version has the same essential base - and I find that no version is stronger than another - just different, and stronger against certain deck types. One change makes the deck better against bloom, and worse against WW - and another change makes it better against godzilla and worse against everything else. I don't feel like doing a mass mailing - so here's some hints I can give without revealing too much. my latest version took the wg's out and replaced them with wastelands. I added a few more weenies to add a lot more pressure in the early game. I took out some fat for these. The 8 3 cc slot creatures never go out - and of the four cc slot ones go down to 2. quirrion rangers are pretty cool. its really all about the sideboard - so here are some suggestions. Season to taste for your area's metagame 2-3 gnomes 2-3 hall of gemstones - essential 15-18 lifeforce 2-3 elephant grass - "SLOW DOWN blackie, whats your hurry?" 1-3 tranquilites - unholies, godzilla, propaganda, syvan persuit, etc etc 3-7 neddle storm - die tradewinds die good luck to all - please post a report this weekend if you decide to risk it - and send one to me too. thanks Jamie C.
