Subject: Decks to beat... "TRADE ALARM" or "FIREWALKER ALARM" Date: Mon, 20 Apr 1998 11:42:31 EDT From: TopDraft00 To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com With the release of stronghold, I have found a really useful card that adds strength to many of the existing T2 decks: intruder alarm. There are quite a few people in my area playing Alarm Decks... with variations using firewalkers (pro red pinger) or the always formidable tradewind... The deck I constructed below was mainly supposed to deal with all the sligh and propa orb decks that are very poplular at the local tournies. The deck revolves around the intruder alarm and either a shrieking drake or man o' war combo to give you either alot of creature usage or an infinate combo... I use birds or paradise in the later case. By casting man o' war when I either have out a tradewind or a firewalker (with the alarm out of course), I can return the man o war and untap all of my creatures. for added effect I use aluren to keep casting the man o war and returning it to my hand, each time untapping all of my creatures with the intruder alarm... the outcome is either being pinged to death by the firewalker or all of myopponents permanents being returned to his\her hand. Once the combo is set off, it works very nicely. Here is the version I am currently using, it's a little rough, but provides lots of fun. Blue: 4 intruder alarms 4 man o' wars 3 shrieking drakes 3 suq ata firewalkers 2 tradewind riders 3 counterspells 2 dismiss 3 dissipates 3 propaganda Green 4 birds of paradise 2 alurens (sometimes I add elves for speed, and tradewind usage) White 3 disenchants Black or Red 4 diablic edicts or 4 incinerates Lands 3 undiscovered paradises 1 flood plains 1 grass lands 2 reflecting pools 4 gemstone mines 6 islands 2 forests 1 plains Sideboard 4 honorable passages (sligh) 1 propaganda (weenies) 3 aura of silence (propa\orb, pros bloom) 2 mangara's blessing (sligh, plus necro\discard) 3 sand golems (against necro\discard) 1 disenchant (vs nev's disk) 1 nev's disk (reset) I have seen other variations of the Alarm deck, either with no tradewinds or no firewalkers, but I prefer the flexibility of both. The sideboard is set for local tournies where sligh, necro and propa orb are all very popular... I am thinking of adding sacred ground due to the increased amount of LD decks I am encountering. Please give me your feedback and hope the deck works for you. Mark Clemens
