Subject: Pit Weenie Date: Sun, 12 Apr 1998 19:05:25 -0700 From: "Andrei B." Pit Weenie: Creatures: 4 Black Knights 4 Knight of Stromgald 4 Fallen Askari 4 Foul Imp 4 Dauthi Slayer (probably Horror is better, but I don't see too many White shadow creatures around here) 4 Blood Pet Support: 4 Bottomless Pit 2 Cursed Scroll (AIH.. well, I don't even have these yet, but planning on buying them next weekend) 2 Nevinyrral's Disk 4 Diabolic Edict Mana: 4 Dark Ritual (there is nothing quite like a first turn Pit) 18 Swamp 2 Volrath's Stronghold The Bottomless Pit creates an enviorment akin to that created by the Winter Orb. Heavy disruption for decks not prepared for it, and kills all those mana-screwed. That is the reason for the 24 mana sources and 4 Blood Pets. Perhaps that is too much, since nothing in the deck is above 2 CC (with the exception of the Disks), but I would hate to be the one mana-screwed after a first turn Swamp-Ritual-Pit. Dark Rituals are my main concern with this deck. With the Pit out, I can't hold them in hand, and would have to use them immediately or discard them. And, without Drain Lifes, the only thing I can use them for in the Pit-controlled late game is pumping up the Knights of Stromgald. Drain Life and Corpse Dance, along with all other possible buyback or heavy mana spells, are not included because unless they are drawn late in the game the Pit will make them a wasted draw. Or, in the case of buyback spells, they will never be worth it under the Pit. I do not have a sideboard built yet, but it will include Null Rods to prevent Black and Red decks from getting rid of the Pit (side out the Disks) and Bottle Gnomes VS burn (side out the Foul Imps). Probably a Gloom VS white.. just the usual stuff. Comments/suggestions are highly appreciated. -- Thanks, Andrei Q: How can I protect myself from evil?
