Subject: The Bottle of Dancing Fog Date: Fri, 10 Apr 1998 01:40:07 -0400 From: "Mike Scott" To: Corpse Dance. Do other people think it is a strong card? Tinkering with a deck like this: 4 Fog Elementals 4 Bottle Gnomes 4 Counterspell 4 Dismiss 4 Dissipate 3 Nevinyrral's disks 2 Diabolic Edict 2 Capsize 2 Whispers of the Muse 3 Corpse Dance 1 Disturbed Burial 2 Volrath's Stronghold 4 Quicksand 3 Bad River 2 Reflecting Pool 4 Underground River 5 Swamps 8 Islands Possible Sideboard Cards Lobotomy - control decks Hydroblast - red Gloom - White (don't expect to see much white in dallas.) Perish - anti green creatures Phyrexian Furnace - To stop reanimator decks like this Touchstone - Anti ord decks Energy Flux - Anti Artifacts, especially winter orb What do you think. I thought this was a pretty good deck. Lots of control and the corpse dance with the gnomes for life and the fog elementals for beatdown. Concerns: Early Armageddon - not much chance of recovering, since this deck is so mana dependent. Winterorb decks - Big problem. How do I get rid of them? Splash for white for disenchant. I would have to add adakar wastes or Cities of Brass or Undiscovered paradise or a mix of the three. Phyrexian Furnaces - I expect a lot of folks to be packing these in the sideboard due to all the great reanimator cards out there. Paths to victory - Blue damage and artifact damage. Very limited paths to victory. Don't expect many COP blues though. Probably need some black damage source. Maybe the black buyback spell. Maybe a feldon's cane in the sideboard to run them out of cards. Maybe Suq a ta Firewalkers in the sideboard, although this is blue damage as well. What do you think? MDS
