Subject: Alarmed Tim. . . Date: Mon, 06 Apr 1998 02:32:14 -0600 From: Cameron Iwan <00218209@bigred.unl.edu> To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com I noticed the decks about the return of tim, and thought that I could share a similar deck Ive been playing with since just after the prerelease. The deck takes the alarm/drake idea to a little bit higher level: 4 Birds of Paradise 4 Quirion Elves 4 Aluren (just wait) 2 City of Solitude (maybe put in sideboard) 4 Intruder Alarm 4 Shrieking Drake 4 Manowar 3 Prodigal Sorcerer 4 Rootwater Hunter 4 Mana Leak 2 Whispers of the Muse 12 Island 6 Forest 4 City of Brass The deck relies on the alarm/tim with a drake and blue-mana-producing creature, but has at least two versions of each key card, except the alarm. This helps against lobotomize, caps, and the like, as well as allows for a more flexible win. Aluren can replace the mana-producing creature, as well as allow for Man-o-war to work instead of the drake. City of Solitude is used to offset this a little, and also, since the deck often falls into place in a single turn (like prosbloom), it can lock in the win, even though the deck does boast 4 counters. Whispers help if you cant seem to draw the tim, as I often get stuck with just infinite mana and no where to put it. Overall, the deck is quite strong, with sligh as its only major problem (that Ive run across, anyway). Sideboard is usually elemental blasts, more cities, and hosers for whatever gives you problems. Oh, one other quick little thing. Just wanted to make people aware of the third turn "infinite" damage capabilities here: Turn 1: forest, bird Turn 2: land, tim Turn 3: land, alarm, drake, game. . . Yes, I have gotten this (a number of times) as well as common 4-6 turn locks. Well, Im off to a well-deserved rest after a long day. Just thought Id throw in a little contribution to the workshop or wherever, if you think its worthy. . . spater Cameron Iwan
