Subject: Magic Deck Submission. Please, please post it for comments. Date: Mon, 6 Apr 1998 01:31:30 -0400 From: "Connie McKinnon" To: Hi, Please post my deck, as outlined below. I think it poses a threat to the meta game red sligh deck, which dominates the "401" Toronto magic scene. 5CB is all over the place too, but loses to sligh, despite gerrards and all of the goodies it has. Sigh, red sligh is so degenerate. We should start a anti sligh campaign. Anyway, take a look. I call it: Water likes fire, fire likes water. 4 SuqAta Firewalker 3 Man-o-war 3 Ophidian 2 Frenetic Efreets 4 Counter Spells 2 Dissmiss 3 Mana Leak 4 Shock 4 Incinerate 2 Searing Touch 4 Impulse 3 Disk 8 Mountains 8 Islands 3 Undiscovered Paradise 3 Adarkar Wastes Side: 1 Disrupting Sceptre 3 Pyro Blast 3 Hydro Blast 2 COP Red 3 Shatter 3 Disenchant Notes: The sideboard for this deck is very important. You will notice a few white cards that can be splashed in, this is key, but can't be over done. Nothing is worse than a severe color screw with this deck. The blasts and COP Reds are key and disenchant has great utility against a wide range of deck types. The shatters are for cursed scroll and jinxed idol. The main deck can beat sligh only 50% of the time. Fire walker is the key card against red decks. It messes all the weenies up. Also, a wide range of deck types splash in red and can't touch him. Its great, however, to be able to ping a creature and finish it off with a incinerate or shock. Great card. Mano-o-war and Ophian help further drive the card advantage engine. Infact, this is the only real card advantage engine preasent in the deck. I tried more multi color lands in this deck, at one point, but i find that wasteland can kill you too early if you try to put too many in. Also, shard pheonix would be cool, but bites because it is so bloody slow. Disk, of course, helps out with all the rest of the decks in the field! Doug Asp Doug.Asp@Zymark.com Please, please post this one.... And can we start an anti red campaign to end the sligh riegn of terror. Curses to cursed scroll. See ya
