Subject: mono-green post ST Date: Sun, 29 Mar 1998 19:00:04 -0500 From: battage@banet.net To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com heya Frank, recently there has been way to much bitching about how green gets shafted in expansion after expansion. i think this bitching is a bunch of crap. here is some tourney viable green decks post ST. 1.New Stompy Green: 4 Rouge Elephant 4 Wall of Blossoms 4 River Boa 4 Muscle Sliver 3 Karoo Meerkat - blue creatures are popping up more and more 4 Harvest Wurm 4 Jolrael's Centuar 4 Fallow Wurm 1 Stampeding Wildebeests 4 Provoke - soooo strong in the right deck. card advantage is oozing from this card 4 Giant Growth 1 Overrun 2 Sylvan Lbrary - i love this card, i think it should be in almost any green deck Land: 17 Forest - maybe needs more Comments:this deck is pure beatdown, no need for Cursed Scroll or Winter Orb 2.G/r Beatdown 4 Llanowar Elves 4 Quirion Ranger 4 Granger Guildmage 4 Muscle Sliver 4 River Boa 4 Jolrael's Centaur 4 Uktabi Orangutang 2 Lhurgoyf 4 Giant Growth/Provoke - not sure which, maybe go 2 of each 1 Overrun 1 Sylvan Library Red: 4 Incinerate 1 Fireball 1 Goblin Bombardment Artifact: 4 Cursed Scroll Land: 4 Karplusan Forest 1 Undiscovered Paradise 2 Mountain Valley 1 Mountain 10 Forest Comments:i dont know why, but this deck always seems to win 3.5cG Green: 4 Birds of Paradise 4 Quirion Ranger 3 Wall of Blossoms 4 Granger Guildmage 4 River Boa 4 Jolrael's Centuar 2 Uktabi Orangutang Red: 4 Incinerate 2 Shock - it may not be better than kindle, but u need 4 kindle's for it to be effective and i only have 2 slots Black: 2 Derelor Blue: 3 Mana Leak 3 Tradewind Rider White: 3 Armageddon 2 Disenchant Land: 4 Gemstone Mine 4 Undisovered Paradise 1 Reflecting Pool 9 Forest Comments:this deck is extremly versatile 4.Anti-Perish Stompy Green: 4 Eladamri's Vineyard 4 Mtenda Lion 4 Scryb Sprites 4 Muscle Sliver 4 River Boa 4 Rootwalla 4 Jolrael's Centaur 2 Uktabi Orangutang 3 Lhurgoyf 1 Sylvan Library Artifacts: 4 Cursed Scroll 4 Scalding Tongs Comments:lots of non-perishable damage. u think perish is bad for green, watch black try and deal with Vineyard and Joey. those 2 cards punish black decks. here are some thoughts on Perish. i played Stompy when Counterpost was everywere. in order to play around Wrath i had to hold creatures. if u just hold your creatures you should do ok. u could also wait around for lifeforce. so if u still think green sux, i'll play u for anti with one of these decks. :) CYA -Matt Battaglia -OphieNY
