Subject: The ShallowDruid Deck... Date: Fri, 27 Mar 1998 03:32:18 +0800 From: "Autrijus Tang" To: "Frank Kusumoto" Here I'd like to supply the (seemly) final version of the ShallowDruid deck. After got a ruling of "put revealed cards into graveyard in any order", I could simply use Shallow Grave + Revenant to kill my opponent on turn 2. The record of this deck on net is 30:2 now, with the only losses from turn 4 double Fireblast and turn 4 double Lobotomy. (duh). Here's the deck: ------------------- ShallowDruid v2.0 ------------------- 4 Hermid Druid 4 Shallow Grave 2 Haunting Misery 1 Revenant 4 Vampiric Tutor 4 Mana Leak 2 Dark Ritual 2 Intuition 4 Wall of Roots 4 Birds of Paradise 4 Blood Pet 4 Noble Benefactor 3 Necratog 3 Quirion Elves 3 Mox Diamond 4 Gemstone Mine 4 City of Brass 4 Undiscoverd Paradise 1 Reflecting Pool -----Sideboard----- 4 Pydoblast 4 Hydroblast 3 Disenchant 2 Angelic Renewal 2 Abeyance ------------------- Ideal Opening: Turn 1 - Mox, Land, Druid, go. Turn 2 - Tap Druid, Ritual, Misery, game. - Tap Druid, Land, Shallow for Revenant, attack, game. The major changes from the prior "Miserable Druid" deck are replacing Haunting Misery to Shallow Grave for the main kill (hence the name), plus fully anti-burn/anti-lobotomy main deck and sideboard. This is a true 3 turn kill deck, consistently win at turn 4 if opponent does nothing; And if he/she really does anything, it usually won't matter. Playing this deck: Always Paris Mulligan if draw the Revenant with no Haunting Misery on hand. Never Mulligan if you have at least one of the combo. Yes, I know the mana ratio is very dangerous, especially with Mox. At game one, cast Druid early, and prepare to Shallow it back. If you can't win at turn 4, be careful to Leak big threats(like Gerrard's Wisdom. *grin*), and go to Atog Beatdown for the last resort. With 27 creatures in this deck, you shall win with Revenant anyway, for he can't be incinerate nor edict nor terrored. Sideboard is very obvious. Since only 2 decks can disturb this deck, 4 blasts is a must(side out 2 Atog if opponent use walls). Side in disenchant only if opponent is playing early disks. Always have an Abeyance or Leak on hand if vs. a white deck. Okay, that's all. Remember: Safety First! If you cannot win with the combo, you'll die next turn. Don't think of putting Island Sanctuary, it won't work. :) Autrijus Tang
