Subject: The definitive guide to Stompy Date: Tue, 24 Mar 1998 21:32:39 +0100 From: Haugen family To: Green sucks, Perish should banned, When will WOTC do something about Green, Green needs some form of control. I think I just summed up all the controversy and silly complaints about Green. We were all down that road once. You just started playing, you bought your first starter deck, or your first booster pack, and all those "scrubby green" cards just collected in you card pool, while you bought you packs. Then you slowly branch away from that domain of scrubdom, and realize, "Hey, that Lawnmower elf guy is pretty good. Queerion Ranger works pretty good with those Pectoral Bears." And then Stompy hits the scene, and you now have a use for all those "scrubby green" cards Green had its time to shine, everybody gets their time to shine, but Green's was cut very short with the rotation of Ice Age/Alliances and then all your Green cards were "scrubby" again. I was down that road, and nobody can deny it with a clear conscience. And everyone that has mixed feelings about Green continues to make comments like the ones in the first sentence. It looks like the sayings changed from "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em," to "If you can't be it, beat it." I just have to say to everyone, if you want to whine about it, play with it until you can justify your reasoning, before complaining to everyone else about why it sucks. Until then, wait patiently, because the time will come for Green to shine again. The cards that scream out and say "BEAT BACK SLIGH" are... Wall of Blossoms- (play a 0/4 wall at the cost of 1G and draw a card, this is too good) Spike Feeder- (now after reading through the spoiler, I missed this one due to passing the spikes off as useless proxy fodder, but I kicked myself hard when I found out the greatness of this card) Bottle Gnomes- (Any and every low to high creature deck should automatically put 4 of these in there. It works way too good with the Feeders. There is no reason not to. Do it... Now!... what are you waiting for?... ) Eladrami Lord of the Elves- (this guy doesn't scream so loud, but with a high amount of elves in your deck, it makes sense to make them invincible to targeted creature elim) With the excellent utility of these cards in mind, here's a deck listing to keep you reading just a bit longer. This deck is aptly named... ... Senor Fuerte (for those that don't know a little espanol, it means Mr. Strong) 4 Wall of Roots 4 Wall of Blossoms 4 Spike Feeder >the Sligh killers 4 Bottle Gnomes 4 Llanowar Elves 4 Quirion Ranger 4 Rive Boa 4 Jolrael's Centaur 2 Trained Armodon 2 Sex Monkey 4 Giant Growth 4 Winter Orb (or perhaps 4 Overruns, or maybe 4 Cursed Scrolls, the choice is up to you) 16 Forests Sideboard 4 Lifeforce (the easy answer for all the whining about perish) 2 Sex Monkey 2 Verdigris 3 City of Solitude 3 Tranquil Domain I had an interesting idea of using Earthcraft to get a second utility out of your creatures while under the orb. Just a thought. Thanks for reading. Also I would like to issue a challenge for anbody to tell me why Sligh decks should not use Shock either in place of or in addition to Kindle (most preferably in addition to). If anyone disagrees with my philosophizing, you can tell me what you think ;-) Justin Haugen (Stop the whining and do something about it)
