Subject: Deck Date: Mon, 23 Mar 1998 16:00:30 EST From: BTek Guy To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Goblins on Parade T2 Sligh by Scott Ferguson This is a standard Sligh deck with a few exceptions. When I made it up, I wanted to use one of the best cards in Stronghold- Mogg Flunkies- to their fullest ability. The Flunkies have a whole bunch of great advantages to Ironclaw Orcs, not the least of which is being 3/3 for 2 mana. Another advantage is that he's a goblin. This is often overlooked- until you think about goblin kings. At this point a deck started to form in my mind. So, here it is: Land: 2 Stalking Stones (A really good card that is sometimes overlooked. In the late game, this sucker just rules) 4 Wastelands (Great against annoying Vales and such) 18 Mountains (Take a guess) Artifacts: 2 Cursed Scrolls (Direct damage late in the game) Red Creatures: 1 Starke of Rath (Another cool card, but play him carefully. Delay using him until the last second. Even if he's never used, he's still a 2/2 creature) 2 Suq'Ata Lancers (Surprise attack. A Sligh staple) 2 Dwarven Miner (A little better than Orcish Settlers because of higher toughness and reusability) 3 Fireslingers (A really good, really cool card) 4 Goblin Kings (Pump 'em up! Try not to get more than one in play at once. These guys draw Bolts, Wraths, and Terrors more than any otrher card in the deck) 4 Mogg Flunkies (The best Sligh creature since the Slingers, Fanatics, and Conscripts. With all your goblins +1/+1 thanks to the king, the Flunkies' companions should be tough enough to survive) 4 Goblin Vandal (Your only artifact kill besides Starke) 4 Mogg Conscripts (Dammit, the whole POINT of Sligh is to cast a creature every turn!) 4 Mogg Fanatics (A bit more DD, plus more King fodder) Red Spells: 4 Incinerate (A bit better than Kindle or Shock) 2 Hammer of Bogarden (More late-game strength) 1 Goblin Bombardment (Fanatics are cool. This card does them one better) Sideboard: 2 Havoc (Enchantments don't last long against white, but this should sneak in a few points) 2 Boil (Kill Islands. Enough said) 3 Pyroblast (Stop damn blue spells like Propaganda and such) 2 Reign of Chaos (A nice land/creaturekill card) 2 Phyrexian Furnace (This should help against reanimators) 4 Ball Lightnings (In case you come up against another Sligh deck, switch out your kings for these) -Scott Ferguson (BTek Guy@aol.com) enjoys long walks in the sun and ordering his goblin hordes to crush the resistance)
