Subject: New Deck for disection Date: Fri, 13 Mar 1998 12:02:41 +0000 From: James Monk Newsgroups: uk.games.trading-cards.misc Hi, Having looked over a lot of Stronghold commentaries I noticed that many people were compairing Horn of Greed with Howling mine. Thinking that there must be a way to maximize your advantage from this global advantage card I have started looking for a deck that can abuse the card drawing power of this artifact. The obvious colour to go with the horn is green and the green card that benifits most from card draw is maro, so that was a start. Then since you would be playing a lot of land, and maro likes it I figured that Armageddon would not be bad. Finally I needed a way to maximize the Horns card draw, so I added the most unlikely candidate : Summer's Bloom. With one Horn in play and 3 land in hand this is a 3 mana boost next turn and a 1 mana boost this turn for the cost of one card. With 2 horns it is sick. +2 cards + 1 mana this turn + 3 next turn for no cost ! Also with 2 horns down you can lay the bloom with 1/2 land in hand and hope to draw annother off the horn. So here is the deck : 4 Horn of Greed \ 4 Mulch > The combo 4 Summers Bloom / 4 Centaur > so many decks hate these 4 Maro > He is so Phat 4 Wall of Roots \ Orrigenally I had more large critters, but fast 4 Wall of Blossoms / critter decks eat me. 2 Primal Rage > 9/9 Maros like trample 4 Gaea's Blessing > There is a good chance of decking your-self 4 Armageddon > 2 Walls + Maro = win 9*/10 14 Forests 4 Plains 4 Undiscovered Paradise > Nice with Maro Nice with the Horn. The Deck uses the walls to slow early rushes then aims to drop a horn + a land turn 3/4, Maro follows and beatdown ensues. Well what do you think, Jim
