Subject: Post-Stronghold T2 Psudeo Jank Date: Fri, 13 Mar 1998 02:00:19 -0600 From: "Patrick J. Aulson" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Howdy, What follows are a north-Dallas scrub's thoughts on the current meta game, and a deck listing with some explanation. For several weeks, it seems the meta game has been tending toward decks that are heavy in non-creature permanents. Many current popular decks include various artifacts to run efficiently or even function at all: nev's disks, mana diamonds, bottle gnomes, steel golems, orbs, scrolls, puppet strings, the new pseudo-mox or they contain enchantments: propaganda, megrim, necro, bottomless pit, sylvan library, empirical armor, pursuit of knowledge, pendral mists... the list goes on. While playing the 1.x "jank" deck in friendly play against some t2 decks, I noticed a card I hadn't really given much thought to before: Aura of Silence. I had just thrown it in 'cause the page on the net had it (remember i'm a scrub) Anyhow, the card gives most decks absolute fits, I was never sorry to draw it. The card is both extremely efficient and versatile. Aura really fits into the jank deck nicely and i decided to construct a t2 version. Here is a rough outline: Critters (18) 4 Nomads en-Kor 4 White Knights 4 Soltari Priests 4 Freewind Chickens 2 Tradewind Riders Direct Damage (12) 4 Incinerate 4 Shock 4 Cursed Scroll Utility (11) 4 Tithe 3 Aura of Silence 2 Disenchant 2 Armageddon Mana Sources (20) 10 Plains 3 Mox Diamond 3 Gemstone Mine 2 City of Brass 2 Undiscovered Paradise (61) Total Cards - a little heavy but I really hate mana-screw No real sideboard yet - just some thoughts - lots of flexibility due to multi-color 3 Perish perhaps in lieu of the Auras against stompy 2 Wisdom against sligh - (the deck is already pretty anti - red) 2 more Disenchant vs. propa-orb, etc Maybe 2 sacred ground vs. other geddons and land kill Boil or other color hosers??? There are a few little open ended combos worth mentioning: The nomads are great little guys with 12 protection from critters to pimp off damage to. Usually whatever critters are on the table are un-boltable. If the deck goes second, this is fun: play mox diamond, pitch the city of brass, play tithe, get 2 plains, play 1 plains, play nomads or scroll. The deck has a mana curve much like sligh: cc1 or less - 20 Cards cc2 - 18 Cards cc3 - 3 Cards cc4 - 4 Cards Keith - aka - Copenhagen Please email me with any comments Keith_Aul@Hotmail.com
