Subject: DecK: Mulchgoyf Date: Wed, 11 Mar 1998 01:06:45 +0100 From: Mattias Wåglin Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy Ah, back to the newsgroup... Haven't posted (or read) anything in ages, so I am a bit out of date with all the discussions, but I am trying to catch up... Anyway, I thought I'd make my re-entrance by posting a deck... It's not the most creative deck ever, but it's the first one I've made using any Stronghold cards... I haven't really seen much of Stronghold yet and am not totally up to date with Tempest either for that matter (but I am catching up) so the deck isn't all that optimized, but it's a rough draft... First I will tell you how it's supposed to work... It's extremely simple, following the ordinary swarm deck concept, I'd guess... Throw out the smaller creatures and use teh stupors to disturb your opponent a little so he can't be playing his own game totally freely... Also drop as many mulch as possible, giving you land and placing creatures in your graveyard. Don't worry to much with creatures getting blocked and killed, that doesn't matter to much. Then drop the bomb. Lhurgoyf _or_ Necratog. Both at the same time isn't that much of a good idea though since they don't co-operate to well... Lhurgoyf is nastier, but if the opponents ahve few or no creatures, Necratog kills quicker. The deck's working pretty okey in my playtesting, but there are room for many improvements, I would think. Well, that is basically it. Well, here is the deck: Green 4 Lhurgoyf 4 Jolrael's Centaur 4 River Boa 4 Pincher Beatles 4 Mulch 1 Sylvan Library Black 4 Necratog 4 Nekrataal 4 Fallen Askari 2 Diabolic Edict 4 Stupor Land 10 Forest 4 Pine Barrens 8 Swamps I am pretty sure there are a few better creatures to add, but these are tought enough to get rid of to cause the opponent some problem and bite hard enough for him to want to get rid of them. Nekrataal rocks, since it's both a creature (thus making Lhurgoyf larger while in the graveyard) and a creature kill. The Sylvan Library isn't all that necessary, but I like the card and it works pretty well with Mulch. No Blessing, since recursion isn't part of the idea. More edicts could be useful, but I am not to sure. Sideboard, I think... Which brings me to thoughts of a sideboard... I haven't really made one yet, but my thoughts go in the line of this: 3 City of Solitude 2 Diabolic Edicts 2 Dread of Night Not sure what more to add right now, need to check more Stronghold cards, I think. Well, that's it. Look out for more of my ideas, since I tend to post most of them here for response.
