Subject: a submission to Deck Workshop Date: Mon, 09 Mar 1998 04:32:33 PST From: "Luis Buenaventura" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com The Big Headache 4 Cursed Scrolls 4 Drain Life 3 Bottomless Pit 2 Megrim 3 Ensnaring Bridge 4 Funeral Charm 2 Coercion 4 Stupor 1 Abandon Hope 1 Fountain of Youth 4 Dark Rituals 4 Incincerate 2 Shatter 14 Swamps 4 Sulphurous Springs 2 Cinder Marsh 2 Wasteland I know this deck isn't really original (the idea was precon, for crud's sake) but the WotC version was heavy weenie beatdown with a touch of discard, or something like that. The reason why I think this deck has potential is because of this one equation : Discard at random (Bottomless Pit) + 2 damage per discard (Megrim) = 1 highly-convoluted Hypnotic Specter Ok, so it isn't even close. But this deck beats the hell out of controller types, and can give any weenie deck a run for its money (except for Sligh). Without a sideboard, it can't stand up to the likes of Sligh (and maybe Stompy with a good draw), however, which is why I'm writing here. I really, really like this deck, simply because it's Card Disadvantage Heaven. I even put in Abandon Hope so handsize would shrink faster (for use with the Bridge), and Fountain of Youth as a mana dump (there were times when I had to burn for 3 with Dark Ritual, because otherwise I'd be swarmed by a gazillion 1/1 red weenies; at least with the Fountain, the burn is negated). Please write to me with thoughts on this deck and possible (obvious?) weaknesses. I'm really seriously thinking about bringing it to a tourney, so I'd appreciate any input.
