Take the following cards : 4 Counterspell 4 Force of Will 4 Dissipate 4 Impulse 4 Nevinyrral's Disk 4 Quicksand 3-4 Thawing Glaciers Add about 20 more lands. Then, add your preferred way to win, and you have a strong tournament deck. Use Hammers and DD for CounterHammer. Use any of the various big blue creatures for a Big Blue deck. Use Outposts and Wrath of God for CounterPost. Ta-da! It is my considered opinion, though, that the strongest strategy of the three is CounterPost, simply because it can beat the other 2 strategies. Why? Outposts can't be countered. By this fact alone, I feel that CounterPost is the current dominant Type 2 deck. Here in Singapore, CounterPost won the National Championships. It also ended up 1-2 in the last Mox A Month tournament. Why is CounterPost so strong? It can handle ANY Type 2 deck around right now. It'll slaughter most creature decks (esp. if it packs 4 Nev's Disk and 4 Wraths). It has a natural advantage over counter decks, since Outposts can't be countered. It'll probably lose the first duel against burn decks, but once the CoP:Red comes out it's practically game over. CounterPost is made much more consistent due to 3 cards. The first, Thawing Glaciers, is obvious. The second is Impulse, which gives the deck a good way to get that crucial Wrath, Disk or counter. The last is the modest Quicksand, which delays weenies (in particular River Boa) long enough to set up the defence. I need the help of this list to come up with suggestions to beat CounterPost. One idea is 5CMG, but then it depends on whether I can get the Winter Orb out, and also on whether he can blow that Disk. Another is a Buried Alive-Nether Shadow deck, but this seems to have no chance against a WW. Can anyone suggest a deck which can CONSISTENTLY beat CounterPost, and yet not get clobbered by all other decks? - Oon Wee Chong.
