From: Kendall Redburn Subject: Abeyance Discussion (Mature and Intelligent) Date: Wed, 23 Jul 1997 10:36:30 -0400 I don't give a flying Fig how abeyance compares to time walk. I like abeyance in my black white necro deck. Against blue, I cast abeyance on my turn. It's counter or never, so it works better than progressive spell casting. (this is where you cast the lesser important spells as a smoke screen to draw counters!) Once it hits the table my disk/nekrataal/whatever has a free and clear path. Better duck cause here it comes! I like to cast if just after attackers have been declared, when my opponent is attacking me. Esp. when the opponent has pump knights or thinks they might drop a giant growth on me. I love it with pump knights because then they can't give first strike unless they do it right now! :-) Gosh, were you hoping to regenerate that creature? How often does the opponent attack with a certain number of creatures, and then drops a creature after the attack to block you with? They attack, I drop abeyance, they're screwed. I smile. Then there is the (Yes!) Time walk aspect. I've got the drop creature wise, and I would so much like to take another turn without you being able to block, so I drop they abbey during your upkeep. Heck, I'll probably armageddon on my turn just to keep things this way. And if all else fails, if you abbey me, I abbey you. Tit for Tat, Which kind of sucks when it happens to you. Now, please add the ways in which you use this wonderful card, that is not at all like a time walk unless you have no imagination. Kendall -- Unfortunately "I behave this way, therefor you must" is one of the most deeply ingrained behaviour patterns in the human species, right behind "give me that or I will hurt you."
