Subject: [Dojo stuff] Sacrfices need to be made?

First of all, I'd like to say thank you to all the people who took the time
to write to me, telling me how I could get my messages as a digest again.
Thanx to each one of you!

Len, as always, has a put up a thought provoking post.

Timeliness, I feel, is the biggest issue about the Dojo. As a result, I
think we have to make some hard choices in order to keep the Dojo an up to
date site. I don't know if Frank is still interested in maintaining his web
site or not. I hope he is. However, if his work load was decreased, we might
be able to solve Len's third point (i.e. timeliness).

I think most of us don't mind the humor articles or the player profiles too
much. Some of us like them more than the strategy articles, perhaps. But I
don't feel they're necesarry. The Dojo has tried to address a lot of things
which I feel it doesn't need to, namely these humor and "community" issues.
It's just too much.

If we get rid of them, that would cut down on Frank's work load by a lot.
Personally, if I see another "Impulse like a..." or "Mike Long's a cheater"
post on the front page of the Dojo, I'll scream. With the extra time, we
could cut out the riff-raff that gets posted on the Dojo and make it the
premiere strategy site it once was (what the hell was with that voodoo witch
doctor crap? On the front page no less! I actually e-mailed him to take it
off, which thankfully he did).

I don't think we can have our cake and eat it too, in this situation. Some
sacrifices have to be made, but in the end I believe we can make the Dojo a
more streamlined, better, strategy oriented site. This does not rule out the
possibility of other web sites taking the load of posting humor and
community issue ariticles, after all.

PS.  I do have some perspective. I was playing before the Dojo even existed,
and visited Frank's web site on the second or third day of its existence. I
found it by following a link from the Comprehensive M:TG Links page before
it moved to the Swiss page.
