Subject: Issue - Ban on Academy Date: Fri, 04 Dec 1998 18:30:52 PST From: "Doc Faustus" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Hello Frank, I can't attest to my writing skills but I thought I would try and voice my opinion on recent matters, specifically the banning of Tolarian Academy and Windfall in "type II" and the other sanctioned tournament formats. I think it is sad that Wizards and the DCI had to hit such a terrible speed bump in recent times considering how good the last few card sets have been. I think many players, including the Pros. have enjoyed the last few card blocks a lot. It would be unfortunate if "Magic" lost popularity because of an oversight on the part of Wizards of the Coast and their Magic playtesters; considering past efforts and their deserving dominance in the collectable card scene. However, my real sympathy lies with the many ambitious players who collect all the tournament viable cards at a cost; whether it be cash, or trading from within their existing collections. What they can do with their "minty fresh" Academy stuff is uncertain, but some may have already thought about making a ritualistic pyre out those forbidden paper products. I want Magic to be the best card floppin' game out there, and I think the current sitation STINKS! What I suggest is that everyone who may have hard feelings about the "Ban" get on their virtual soapboxes and demand a refund for every Academy and Windfall they got(is Windfall a common?). Be polite but firm, perhaps with enough e-mails stuffed in their mighty craw, WOTC will take some sort of action. I don't necessarily expect a refund, that may not be realistic. However an apology or some sort of reform on set frequency may come about IF!!... If we make enough fuss. So that's it, if your mad about the ban - email the DCI and let 'em know you want your money back! Sincerely hope this makes sense, -Bill "bad brains" Powell ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
