I'm sure by now all of know that Tolarian Academy and Windfall are banned in type 2. Many people say the academy deck was too powerful and it was too cheap. I'll admit, it was a good deck and sometimes, like when you got a second turn kill, yes it was cheesy. However I have seen my decks beat the academy deck. The academy deck is only really powerful in the hands of a good player. Anyway what I'm trying to say is that I think Wizards of the Coast made a bad and premature descion about banning academy. I'm they recieved many e-mail telling them to ban the academy deck. Now they will recieve many e-mail telling them about their poor descion. Wizards of the Coast have not banned a card in type 2 yet (except those ante cards). It is not too late for Wizards to unbann Tolarian Academy and Windfall. Cursed Scroll was a powerful card. It had the potential (just one card) to kill an opponent. Almost every deck that could add cards to either get around cursed scroll or to destroy. They should just do the same thing with the academy deck. If Wizards of te Coast were really all that concerned and actually thought out the problem, they would have realized it would have been much smarter just to create a hoser card to hose academy in the next set. I'm sure most people remember the Black Summer of '96. The Necro deck ruled supreme in all the tournaments back then. It was proven that Necro can be defeated in the World Championship of '96. Also in visions, they created a hoser card against Necro (Anvil of Bogarden). The academy deck, just like the Necro deck can be defeated. Just ask anyone who has played the deck before and they will tell you that they can lose even with the academy deck!!! What's that, you thought the academy deck could never be defeated? Well wake and realize it is just another good deck. There are those out there who say, "Well academy could kill you on turn 4 or 5 easily." Guess what? The new Recurring-Whale deck can kill you TURN 4 consistenly. So why didn't Wizards of the Coast ban the whale or recurring nightmare. The answer is simple: people simply overacted to the academy deck and said blue shouln't be able to do that. ProsBloom also killed the opponent on turn 3 or 4. Why didn't Wizards ban that deck. My question for all those at Wizards of the Coast is why ban academy and windfall when you guys didn't do anything about all of the other power decks. I want to encourage all those who feel the same way as me to protest and e-mail WotC and let them know how we feel. E-mail WotC and tell them that their descion was premature and tell them to unban academy and windfall. E-mail me at jsk@garden.net to tell me your thoughtd on this situation. Remember academy and windfall were banned because people e-mail and complained, so if we e-mail and complain, with WotC has a brain, then they will realize their mistake and unban academy and windfall.
