What does everybody else think about the rumoured > (or actual) decision to ban Recurring Nightmare? Hi All, I figured I'd jump into on this one to say that Recurring Nightmare is just as broken as Academy in new type 2 and certainly deserves to be banned just as much. After looking through a few good version of Recurring/Whale/PriestofGix and Reccuring/Verduran/PriestofGix, I put one together which kills goldfish on fourth turn 60% plus! And the problem is that pretty much all opponents ARE goldfish. The only effective disruption they can throw in versus recur is counterspell. Removal will slow it down for a turn but that's unlikely to make any difference to the big picture. Even testing against mono/blue draw go, Thrull Surgeons and sheer threat density means that you still win around half! So the only mainstream deck which have a hope in hell of beating Infinite/Recur is Acadamy - which is almost certain to get banned. Basically, what i'm trying to say is that gratuitous infinite/ semi-infinite combo decks that are this effective make magic less fun. (Pros. Bloom excepted of course ;) ) So my opinion is...... Ban both on December 1! Only problem then is what to do about cursed scroll ...... Mike Doecke =)
