I do not know of any player who plays Arena for the
prizes.  The purpose of Arena is a common format for
players to simply play.  There exists a joy to
having your matches count, yet count for basically
nothing.

Creating prizes that are worth cash not only places
a burden onto the stores who will need to supply
these prizes, but also deters players who care
about the game more than the result of the game.

The current novelty prizes are nowhere near as
good as the old arena disenchant or fireball
but even those toys are worth too much causing
a detriment in the overall purpose of Arena.

If you need prizes, play in tourneys.  If you
need solid competive gaming within a casual
context, play Arena.
