Subject: I agree with Jamie or Burn the Academy Date: Tue, 03 Nov 1998 17:24:59 GMT From: rodney6997@my-dejanews.com Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy I Agree With Jamie: The game of Magic needs to be more skill based... It really is that simple. There is no skill in Hatred... It is just like the old days of Channel- Fireball. Whoever got it first won...! Where is the skill in that? There is very little skill in either bloom or the new "bloom" (The Academy). All one has to do is get the deck and read how to play it... because there really is only one way it works... Once you learn how it works all skill goes out the door. The deck plays itself. I am a strong proponent of Mid-Range decks. This is simply because they are what I enjoy playing. I am not against all speed decks as it does take some skill to play them...(with the exception of Fireblast, which is finally leaving.) I have trouble playing some speed decks because they are not what I play. They take a different type of skill than I have to play successfully. Hatred does not fall into this category.... It takes no skill to play (at all!!!!) The bloom like, gimmick decks are even worse...I detest these decks. They go against the very spirit of the game magic! Some will say to win you have to play these types of decks... I choose to not play them and take my chances... I would rather have fun with my mid range decks...(Stasis, Necro, Counter\Pheonix, The Brothers Grimm, Secret Force, etc...) I don't play all of the above decks but I enjoy playing against all of them, Because they take skill to play... the duels are almost always decided by skill when two of these decks face off... there is no auto lose. Just something to consider... I in no way condemn anyone that enjoys playing the gimmick, or hatred decks. That is there right. I do however encourage them to broaden their horizons by trying something different...Burn the Academy! Rodney Sheldon Looking forward to burning all academys this winter. -----------== Posted via Deja News, The Discussion Network ==---------- http://www.dejanews.com/ Search, Read, Discuss, or Start Your Own
