Subject: No Counterspells in 6E!!!!! Date: Wed, 18 Nov 1998 01:22:29 -0800 From: Raj Seshadri Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy OMIGOD! They're removing interrupts in 6E!! My draw-go deck is now totally worthless... well, I guess I should throw away my Force of Wills... Or maybe not. Here's how interrupts be changed to work in 6E: Basically they gotta change the basic rules of instants/responses. If you really think about it, there is no need for interrupts (mana sources are at "mana source" speed, and an interrupt is just like an instant, it's a response.) Currently, the you, the active spell caster has to respond to your own spell first. So you could respond to an Wrath of God by activating your Wizard Mentor. Now, change the rules a bit and say that: 1) Your opponent has the right to respond to your spells first. 2) A counterspell must counter the previous spell played (unless worded otherwise). Suddenly, counters are just like they were before. You cast Wrath, I'll respond first by countering it. Then you could respond right after with another counter to *my counter*... and if I have no response to that, you could respond to that by activating your Wizard (which I could still interdict :). Now, this will have implications in batch resolutions, but other than that, things will be just like status quo. -Raj
