Subject: Thoughts from a concerned player Date: Tue, 17 Nov 1998 20:28:15 -0500 (EST) From: rich_smith@webtv.net (Richard Smith) To: custserv@wizards.com CC: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com To All-- Are all the rumors true??--no interrupts, mana pool, etc. in 6E?? As a Type 1 player, I've seen the game go thru a lot of changes. If even one of the rumors are true, there will be drastic changes in the game as I have come to know it. The stability of Magic is hard pressed with the celerity of the expansions you have been releasing--I actually do not play T2 because I do not have the time to devote to all the playtesting. I do, however, still buy boosters and singles of newer sets as they come out and do keep abreast of the latest M:TG news. I have even gone so far as to continue playing after all of my friends have quit altogether and moved on to bigger and better things. I am concerned that the game I have come to enjoy and put a lot of time, money, and effort into for many years has become a mere shadow of what it once was. The asshole players you hear about on the Dojo are a real problem as well--I believe that WOTC has the control to do something about this. If a person, even a PT player, has been seen and proven to be ruining the game environment, TAKE AWAY HIS DCI PRIVILEDGES. Maybe if a PT loses the access to the prize money for a couple of months they would shape up. If it drives these people away, so be it. They are not good for the game anyway. Hell, they did it to Mike Tyson. Now to the subject I had intended to talk about. I do not play in many big tourneys--just the small T1 tourneys I can still find these days--but I am going to have to "hang up" the deck if the game continues on its current pace. It would be such a shame to see a great idea from a very intelligent man go to waste as so many have in this corporate-run decade. Greed is the first step towards failure, Wizards of the Coast. Do not let it get the best of you. --Rich Smith rich_smith@webtv.net
