Subject: matchup history Date: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 11:52:50 -0400 From: Chris Pikula To: "'fkusumot@ix.netcom.com'" Now that there have been so many damn Pro Tourneys, I think that it could be interesting to start looking at how certain players have done vs other groups of players throughout their PT careers. I'll volunteer my matches for scrutiny. My proudest achievement: Chris Pikula vs Tongo Nation 2-0 vs Pete Leiher 1-0 vs Mike Long 1-0 vs David Mills Totals= 4-0 vs Tongo Does it get any better than that? No, actually it doesn't. vs Dickheads 1-0 vs John Yoo 0-1 vs Brian Hacker 0-1 vs Jason Zila 1-2 Total, not too impressive vs former members of the PCL 1-0 vs Mark Chalice 1-0 vs Preston Poulter 1-0 vs Frank Gilson 2-0 vs George Baxter 0-1 vs Mario Robaina 0-1 vs Mark Justice 5-2 total vs CMU 1-1 vs Randy Buehler 1-0 vs Dan Silberman 2-1 total vs ECA 1-0 vs David Bachmann 1-1 vs John Chinnock 2-1 total vs the French 0-1 vs Michael Debard 0-1 vs Raphael Levy 2-0 vs Michael Sochon 1-0 vs Marc Hernandez 3-2 total vs Canadians 2-0 vs Eric Tam 1-0 vs Ryan Fuller 3-0 vs Canada, does this suprise anyone? vs random SoCal 1-1 vs Kurt Burgner 1-0 vs Alan Comer 1-0 vs Bryce Currence 0-2 vs Scott Johns 0-2 vs Brian Selden 3-5, California, with the exception of the PCL, has not treated me well vs Scandinavians 2-1 vs Sigurd Eskeland 1-0 vs Sturla Bingen 0-1 vs Tommi Hovi 3-2 total vs former US National Champions 1-0 vs Justin Gary 0-1 vs Dennis Bentley, our only real American Hero 1-1 total vs former members of Team SMK, how is that for reaching back 1-0 vs Tom Guevin 1-1 vs Darwin Kastle 1-0 vs Dave Dittmer, is this guy dead? 0-1 vs Dave Humphreys 3-2 total vs Italians 0-1 vs Andrea Redi 0-1 vs Gabrielle Pistachio 0-2 total vs these guys vs cheaters 1-0 vs Jason Gordon vs random NY types 1-0 vs Steve OMS 2-0 vs Sean Fleishman 3-0 total vs guys who created "The Deck" 0-1 vs Brian Weissman, :( So, overall, my record seems to be pretty good vs other "big name" type players. My biggest problems are from California. I seem to handle other East Coast players pretty well. The best things about these results are the 4-0 vs Tongo and the lack of any matches vs my teammates. I'm surprised that I haven't played more people multiple times. I actually have a lot less PT matches than alot of people, because I did very well at the 1 day PTs in Atlanta and Dallas and started my cold streak right when PTs became 2 day affairs. Still, I think pro magic would be alot more interesting if people played each other more often, and developed more of a matchup history. Obviously, the only real way to achieve this is to have fewer people on the Pro Tour. I'm still undecided on that issue, however. Anyway, I hope somebody found this interesting.
