Subject: Researched Post: Green Is Fine In t2 Date: Tue, 28 Jul 1998 20:05:08 PDT From: "John Butler" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com ISSUE & STRATEGY] Dear Mr. Kusumoto, Thanks for the dojo in general, and thanks in advance if you post this. I did alot of reasearch around the dojo to find the cards listed, so i would appreciate it if you could post it. Thanks! --Green Does Not Suck!-- Do not dismiss me as some random scrub who likes green. I am, personally, impartial to the color. But i can't help but notice how many people take it for gospel that green sucks. Lets look at the facts. Twenty One Green cards have been mentioned in dojo posts with the following comment: "It would be good if it was another color, but green sucks anyways". This is rediculous. If you play with 26 land, then you only need 9 other cards to make a monocolor deck. Here are the cards that are good, but "suck because green sucks": Keep in mind, this isn't a list of what green cards I think are good. They are cards that appear in a post which says: "This card would be good if it wasn't in green". Mirri, Cat Warrior Sylvan Library Gaea's Blessing Wall Of Blossoms Verdant Force Uktabi Orangutan Joerall's Centaur Stampeding Wildabeest King Cheetah Awakening Oath of Druids Emrald Charm Scragnoth Wall Of Roots Volrath's Gardens Avenging Druid Survival of the Fittest Heartwood Treefolk Call Of The Wild Uktabi Effreet* *If a 5/4 for 4 with a cummulative upkeep of "R" were printed, people would call it an abusive SRB creature. Fine, you might say, it has good cards. But it still can't perform as a deck type. Well, two of the top eight decks at Nationals were monogreen. I can't think of any other reason not to play green, other than Jon Finkel doesn't, so i shouldn't. Which is usually good advice :), but not here. I would also like to take this opportunity to publicy apologize for my attacks on Brian Hacker, as i did not realize his post was meant to be sarcastic. I have passed this on to the people i cited in my article and they too would like to express heartfealt apology to Mr. Hacker. I am truly sorry. To the 40+ who emailed me about it, know that i cannot reply to all of you individually, but i realize he was being sarcastic. Thanks!
