Subject: Ptq and the p.t Date: Wed, 16 Sep 1998 12:22:12 +0930 (CST) From: "Russell Lee Barlow" To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com I live in Australia and have qualified for about 3-5 pro tours I can't remember which ones. I will probably never go to the pro tour either. It seems to me that the we have seen the emergence of real pro players in the last year and a bit with a few players and teams dominating the pro tour scene. This is due to the fact that they devote all there time and effort into playtesting. Which gives them a huge advantage going into the pro tours. It also means that those people trying to go to the pro tour will have less time to playtest (just reiterating what cathy said). To me it seems this is a fight for the pro tour regulars to protect what is a lucrative domination for them. If the pro tour qualifyers were the same format then it would decrease there massive advantage and they would maybe lose their pro tour spot to someone else. So expect the regulars to defend their lucrative patch and for the qualifyers to try and muscle in. Who do you support the established players or the up and comers. Obviously wizards supports the establish players as it gives them high profile media targets to publisice their game so they make more money which is all they care about. Russell
