Subject: Watching WOTC Date: Fri, 11 Sep 1998 12:05:06 -0900 From: Darrell Breese To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Chris, WOW! What a bold idea. Sending info to WOTC's Pro Tour Sponsors, regarding cheating and the lack of action taken to correct the problem. A couple of words of warning: 1) Make sure any and all information you send is %100 accurate and turthful. Be careful to send reports of cheating without having all of the facts (Mike Long's Lap Dance is a good example). If you do not have this information you are putting your self and any other who follow your advice in a dangerous position. I believe the legal term is Slander and/or Liable, both of which have led to large judgements in favor of those who were victims of the actions. 2) Get a Lawyer, you might need one. I want what is best for the game as much as anyone else, however your actions resemble the Salem Witch hunt, and the linch mob of the wild west. There is a solution to the cheating that takes place in the game and it starts with each player. Rather then screaming for WOTC to correct the problem we as players need to take responsibility to make certian our opponent is not cheating in any way. If players accept responsibility to do this, then the game will grow. From the small local tourney all the way to the World Championships, watch your opponent; if you believe their deck has marked cards call a judge; if they are drawing extra cards, call a judge; if they drop a card in their lap, call a judge. Eventually we can weed out the cheats by making it difficult for them to ply the evil ways in our game. Best of luck to you in you prusuits to rid the game of evil, but make sure you have the facts lest you rid us of the game! Darrell l. Breese
