Subject: Incredible Date: Mon, 07 Sep 1998 09:56:58 +0200 From: Simoncini Massimiliano To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Dear everybody I'm sorry if i write for a second time to the Dojo, probably bothering several SERIOUS players (the word serious applied to a game of goblins kobolds and fireballs still makes me lough, i' can't help) and DEMOCRATIC persons, but as i read the last mails about the "Pisicchio affair" this morning, i felt a revolt inside, because most of people just wanted to demonstrate their point, hanging on whatever could help them on that, and ignoring the rest. Before i begin, 1 word about the fact of Luca and Enrico and Gabriele being the same person. LOL. (maybe i'm Gabriele Pisicchio too and nobody ever told me that). Well, in almost all the letter of those agreeing with DCI's behaviour, two points are stressed, or exclusively taken in account: - Cheating must be beaten - Italians they are yelling and protesting only because they feel to be in the aim of DCI and that there is racism (let's tell this word) around in the magic environment, especially among americans. Since we are good guys and we don't even know what the word racism means, Italians they are wrong and Pisicchio must be disqualified. Well, i should take a deep breath here now (to quote someone who, if he breaths less and thinks more maybe next time will be able to catch the point of this affair). About the second statement, i just want to say that this is just an angry FEELING of italians which spreads out (right or not, is really something that i don't care and i won't discuss). Is not the POINT of this affair. The "core" of the protest (and in EACH pro-Pisicchio letter is stressed this) is that judges didn't allow Mr Pisicchio to be present at his deck control, and they didn't want to prove their accusation in any way. This is not only unfair, this is ILLEGAL, unconceivable, under any point of view, any law system, any concept of Right, and should repulse the conscience of any player who have fun in playing magic and tourneys, and maybe mainly of those "serious" players mentioned above. And this is totally unrelated with the person of Pisicchio. Could have been Mr Pisicchio, or Mr Long, or Mr Weissman, or Mr Strafico, or anybody, the problem did not change. Could have been Magic, or Football, or Risiko, Briscola or the Death Penalty for a murder, the problem did not change. Nobody can judge and give punishments without proveing their accusation (more: REFUSING to prove their accusation), and nobody can be judged or punished without the possibility of defending itself. This isn't matter of Magic, forget Pisicchio, could have been anyone, forget Italians or Americans: this is matter of basic justice and conscience. We all want to beat cheating. But don't cheat while doing that.
