Subject: for your information, there was no dojo corruption! Date: Tue, 11 Aug 1998 18:17:17 -0400 From: David Doust To: one__shot@hotmail.com CC: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com I have been traveling extensivly over the past few weeks and have not had a chance to respond to this dojo corrupting thread yet. Sorry to bother all of you that have no interested in this issue, but for those of you that was wondering, here is the exact rule: DCI standard Floor rules: 1.3.3 Conceding Duels Players may only concede a *duel* in order to maintain a strategic advantage within a *match*. Whenever players wish to concede, they must have the approval of the head judge. If players concede duels for any other reason, they will be subject to the appropriate provisions of the DCI penalty guidelines. I was basically enforcing the rules, unfortunately, the standard floor rules is not available to everyone, and apparently there was some misunderstanding on what is "your advantage" and what is collusion! I run and judge tournaments for a living, and I do have a very good reputation. I try to be as fair as possible. Not to say that I never make mistakes, but I do my best with what I have! And my numbers are showing that my tournaments are popular. I knew that I was right about the ruling and I thought that I might just let the issue die. But I thought about it, why should I? Not only is this person slamming me, he is also accusing the dojo of protecting me! why? because I am his sponser? If that is so, then why was the first thread posted in the first place. The first thread never should be in the tournament report section to start off with anyways. There was nothing in that report that has anything to do with the tournament. So I responded to it and Frank took the whole thing down and put them in the issues section. What is the wrong in that? That was what it should have gone into in the first place! So, my advise is: make sure you know the rules before you open your mouth in a public forum, otherwise the embarassement is all yours! and one final thought.....since I am both the tournament organizer and the head judge at all my events... I guess I am closer to God than I thought:) David Doust New Wave Mail Order
