Subject: Re: Unglued Date: Tue, 11 Aug 1998 11:49:08 -0500 (CDT) From: Andrew Stefanski To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Appearances at The Magic Dojo are decieving about the interest in Unglued. The only place it's even mentioned as I write this are just these couple messages back on the issues page. Heck, the full spoiler is available already, and the Dojo doesn't even mention the set anywhere else. However, I've read through the groups. I've see the discussion areas on a few other magic sites. I've seen the commentary in the mailing lists. People ARE interested. People ARE excited about this wild set! One of the postings I read on the newsgroup was from someone who was helping work the Unglued prerelease at GenCon. He commented on how he saw people ripping up cards, standing on chairs and clucking like a chicken, getting out that 99/99 creature 4 times, and all 4 times not being able to do damage with it, and even removing their jeans to avoid being hit via Denimwalk. And EVERYONE was having tons of fun with it, even when losing. Unglued is going to do something that's been needed. It's going to return the pure fun to Magic. And it's going to do it in style. (Ok, maybe having a player do the Hokey Pokey isn't exactly the common perception of style :) Because of the fact that Unglued isn't tourney legal, all of a sudden people are going to have to really have FUN non-tourney decks to play the cards. I really think it's going to improve the recreational magic scene - hopefully bringing back players who got out of it when things just got too competitive. And to those people who think Unglued is a waste of card stock/money/time, you really need to step back a minute, and stop taking yourself so seriously. This is just a GAME. It's supposed to be for FUN. And there are other ways to have fun than just to win tournaments. And I hope that if/when Frank posts this on the Dojo, that he decides it's worth it to at least post a link to the Unglued spoiler, if not put the list itself on the Dojo. Just to let us all know that even the big time tourney people still have a sense of adventure and fun. *---------------------------------------------------------------------------* Andrew Stefanski Motorola NSS UNRECOVERABLE USER ERROR - Terminating Current User
