Subject: Mike Long Cheating Debate Date: Tue, 21 Jul 1998 17:51:16 PDT From: "Mark ." To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com This is the first time I've written to you Frank, but I've been reading the Dojo daily for the last several months. Look, This whole cheating debate all seems to boil down to three pertinent points (Mike Long bashing notwithstanding): 1. Cheating is bad, don't do it. 2. It's not going to stop, why bother? 3. Reform DCI rules regarding cheating. Now that that's out of the way, we can leave the particulars to DCI, WOTC, and the Judges. There is one name that is very conspicuous by its absence in these posts. We've all heard from most of the regular writers here; Cathy Nicoloff, Eric Taylor, Andrew Pacifico, etc. We've heard from Scrubs and Chumleys, and a significant number of Induhviduals on both sides of the debate. That name is Mike Long. Sure, we've seen his name mentioned thousands of times already, but there's been no article from him. No clarification from The Accused himself, the only true first-person witness. I'm not suggesting that we take Mike Long's word at face value, only that we need to hear from him. Personally. Then, we can draw this whole discussion to a close, and get on with our lives. Such as they are. In fact, why hasn't he spoken up by now? Has Wizards told him not to respond? Does he not want to? Does he care? Mark Owens Player since the Dark Tournament player since last month. Go fig. "I can please only one person per day. Today is not your day. Tomorrow's not looking good either."
