Subject: (Commentary -- Exodus) Why We Love to Hatred Date: Mon, 29 Jun 1998 19:30:07 EDT From: NewsNBC@aol.com To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages! Today, I would like to present to you my reasons for saying Hatred is one of the strongest cards in the Exodus set. Being a magic player who constantly reads the articles posted on the Dojo, I have heard all of the two-bit notions that Hatred is weak. Everyone says that a simple shock, incinerate, etc, puts the end to it. Sure, if you had one or two mana untapped, and I played my Hatred on my creature, I would deserve to die, because that is just plain stupid! What everyone must realize, is that you don't always have a chance to counter that precious Hatred. From my expierence of playtesting my R/B Hatred and my mono-black Hatred, molst kill result on turn 2 with 2 Dark Rits and a Hatred or on turn three with 1 dark rit and a Hatred. During those first couple of turns, if you keep mana untapped to use a shock against a creature with Hatred, all the Hatred player has to do is just wait. He will just keep cranking out creatures, and you are forced to keep mana untapped for a Hatred he might not even cast. That's the best part of the deck.... it doesn't RELY on hatred. If you don't draw your hatred, you still are casting 1, 2, or 3 creatures a turn, and when the Bad Moon hits the table, massive beating begin to occur. Now, Hatred is even more phat (is that an actual phrase?) in sealed deck. In the PTQ here in Albuquerque, I got to put the smack down on many opponents with the Hatred... yumm... it was oh so tasty. (Note: I didn't make top eight because I had to forfeit the first round because I was late.) In type two at the moment, what decks out there can produce consistant turn 2,3, and 4 kills? Hatred is just a phat card that makes suicide black that much more playable....
