Subject: More thoughts on green Date: Tue, 16 Jun 1998 12:28:45 -0400 From: Paul Richardson To: zvi@sprintmail.com CC: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com I just read your posting that starts . . . I spent the first week of Exodus doing some non-Magic stuff. I did some testing of MoMa strategies, and couldn't make them consistant. And the number of "green is so weak" rants really surprised me. I read about Pandemonium, about Hatred and about Equilibrium and Mind Over Matter. Many interesting cards have not come up at all in any deck. And yet, for now, as far as I can tell... I am in total amazement at the deluge of green is weak letters. I also liked both your attempts at Land Destruction along with where the weaknesses are at. My thought to you is the following: Green red super stompy. Play with the Big Bunnies (jack-o-lope herd), mana birds elves and walls, some Viashino sandstalkers. Add some direct damage and deck manipulation and wham! Deliver every turn. Think about it. Witha pandemonium out. I atack with my big bunny. 4pts. Cast an elf. 1pt. Cast the big bunny. 4 pts. Your turn. Or I cast the viashino. 4pts. attack 4pts. Repeat adnausium. The ability of green to contiunously deliver LARGE sums of mana along with the new green bouncing effect of the Big Bunny not to mention the wilderbeast makes the adding of Pandemonium a must. Hell, splash blue for some mana leaks and it is over! What does that make: 4 Birds of paradise. 4 wall of roots. 4 r-w-g elves (skyshroud elves?). 4 Big bunnies. 3 Viashino sandstalkers. 3 Wilderbeasts. 2 Hermit druids. (recursion plus fat mana production) 24 creatures 4 Slyvan library. (deck manipulationis a must) 2 gaeas blessings. (recursion time) 4 Mana leaks. 4 pandemoniums. 2 firestorms. (clear the path, throw mana from druids, throw over loaded hand) 2 disenchants. (just in case) 18 spells 18 lands. 2 undiscovered 2 gemstones 2 cities 1 mountain 1 Island 1 Plains 9 forests. What to name it? Bunny beatings? Hell I dont know. I just know GREEN AIN'T WEAK!
