Subject: Rules Note on Equilibrium! Date: Tue, 9 Jun 1998 15:30:37 -0400 From: "Liskov, Moses" To: "'fkusumot@ix.netcom.com'" This is a very brief note for you dojo readers out there. There has been a lot of hype about the new card Equilibrium. Here is the actual wording. Equilibrium Enchantment 1UU Whenever you successfully cast a creature spell, you may pay (1) to return target creature to owner's hand. A bunch of writing has already been done on how to abuse this card but most of it dealt with using Equilibrium to cast a creature and unsummon it as you cast it. This does not work! Equilibrium's ability is a specialized ability (like a triggered ability) that takes place when a spell is successfully cast. Note: not when the spell resolves! Thus, if you cast Wall of Blossoms, you cannot target the Wall of Blossoms you are casting with Equilibrium! This is probably going to be the most common rules mistake made with Exodus cards, and I wanted to get the word out before a lot of people get burned.
