Subject: Card analysis over deck lists Date: Mon, 29 Jun 1998 10:06:12 -0400 From: David Fiorito To: "'fkusumot@ix.netcom.com'" I would like to suggest a new way of discussing decks that would satisfy the pro and anti sides of this debate - card analysis. By that I mean the discussion of the core themes or interactions that make a good deck. I am not just talking about articles dealing with grand strategy or mechanics, rather, I am talking about a sort of partial deck list with an analysis of why it works the way it does. As an example - a discussion of WW could describe the use of low cost critters that posses good evasion or protection abilities combined with powerful creature enchantments to quickly beatdown an opponent. Some examples could then be given: WW can follow several different creature strategies - Shadow - Soltari Monk Soltari Priest Soltari Foot Soldier Soltari Champion Protection - Freewind Falcon White Knight Knight of Dawn etc., etc., etc. Lists could include some critical support cards and how they would interact with the core of the deck. This kind of posting could include a discussion of a deck's vulnerabilities and shortcomings. By listing deck engines, options, variants, without spelling out all 60 cards in detail the reader will have to think, reason, and make judgement calls based on card knowledge instead of straight copying. Just a thought. Cheers, Dave Fiorito
