Subject: Why Dojo should NOT print complete deck lists Date: Thu, 25 Jun 1998 18:12:23 -0700 From: "Jason Rollins" To: Editorial The decklists of decks that won major tournaments should be published with the consent of the maker of the deck, or if it was published somewhere else like the duelist or scrye. Any old deck that somebody thought up and wants to put it up so that anybody and their mother could play the deck is bad. It gets rid of the originality and playtesting of original decks. Often times when duelist shows a deck most of the time the deck is out dated for the current tourney, except for the deck clinic which normally only produces fun decks. The use of decklists of tourney winning decks ruins some originality of mtg. Old timers like myself remember sitting on the floor with cards for consideration on the floor and making my own deck, now making my own deck my mean I get a serious beat down by somebody that has no clue how to play but copied down a deck of how to tap mountains, or reads the description of the deck and how to play it. It's a lot like playing what's called in quake a bot. Bots are people that all they have to do is run away from the fire, but the program aims and does all the firing for you. Half the fun is trying to kill the guy yourself, not letting somebody else do it for you. Stop letting pre-tourney winning decks get on the internet. I see nothing wrong with the basis of the deck or a really cool combos to go into a deck, but don't put everything there of the deck. Jason Rollins IBwaverider@hotmail.com
