Subject: [Issue]The mastermind behind the cheating... Date: Tue, 14 Jul 1998 09:25:21 -0400 From: spectre@r2d2.microtec.net To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Well well well. So you are all tired of cheating? You look at Mike Long, see him cheat, revolt, calm down a while, buy the next expansion, and the cycle repeats all over again. Well, that's just fine. *Because that's just what Peter Adkinson, Founder & CEO of WOTC, wants.* Magic : The Gathering was a last ditch solution to a company on the verge of closing down. First time he played, Adkinson probably became hooked, and decided to place his company's last hopes in the hand of this little card game. And so M:TG becomes what it is now. But since Adkinson has lost interest in the game. He doesn't care about it anymore. What Adkinson cares about is AD&D. Adkinson realized his dream last year when he bought TSR. He is making as much cash as possible out of M:TG to finance his vision of an America ( maybe even a world ) who would accept RPGs as an acceptable and legitimate form of Entertainment. I'd probably do the same thing if I were to be in his place, because I, too, have had that same, old dream. Where the names Origins and Gen Con would be known around the world. Where the world's greatest DMs would be seen as stars. And you could about the most recent Forgottem Realms adventure with almost anyone. And that, gentlemens, is the TRUTH. It is up to you to realize it or not. DCI, Wizards, remember it all leads to the same name at the top. He has never hidden from his ultimate goal, and it is time that you realized it.
