Subject: In response to Remus Shepherd's idiotic commentary Date: Thu, 5 Mar 1998 13:44:13 -0500 From: David Matteson To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com hey frank, Remus Shepherd seems to enjoy talking out of his you-know-where so i thought i would prove his little "sligh is dead" theory dead wrong. Bottomless Pit is the most powerful card printed in a long time, bar none. It has almost no effect on Sligh -- good sligh -- whatsoever. So here is a nice Sligh deck i just threw together followed by a prototype Burn deck that should prove effective. SLIGHtly Rough 4 Mogg Fanatic 4 Mogg Flunkies 4 Ball Lightning 3 Canyon Wildcat 2 Fireslinger 4 Incinerate 4 Kindle 3 Fireblast 2 Shock 4 Cursed Scroll 2 Ensnaring Bridge 2 Nevinyrral's Disk 18 Mountain 4 Wasteland Couple quick notes -- 2 disks should be plenty unless you get poor draws and your opponent does well. Bottomless Pit will serve to make your Ensnaring Bridge more effective. If it becomes tiresome, toss out a disk, and with luck, it'll go away. Black alone has no real way of dealing with artifacts in type 2. Only 2 fireslingers for the simple fact that they are only needed when you can't use your scroll which won't be that often. Or, in conjunction with the scroll for a real hard punch. DISCO INFERNO 4 Shock 4 Incinerate 4 Kindle 4 Fireblast 3 Fireball 3 Kaervek's Torch 3 Searing Touch 3 Earthquake 2 Fanning the Flames 4 Ruby Medallion 4 Nevinyrral's Disk 2 Ensnaring Bridge 20 Mountain Few permanents, and none of them necessary for survival means fun fun fun all night long. Throw on your leasure suit and go for it... SIDEBOARD (General) ; 4 Pyroblast 4 Boil 2 Nevinyrral's Disk (for Sligh) or 2 Wasteland (for Burn) 2 Ensnaring Bridge 3 Portcullis (against heavy creature -- ie other Sligh, Stompy, etc.) That's just a rough sideboard, but adjust it for your area. Sligh did not suffer any kind of blow from the release of Stronghold. It gained Mogg Flunkies, which, i think, will prove to be quite useful. Blue Control, however, got a boot to the head from Bottomless Pit. Thanks, ...dave
