Subject: the incredible walls of stronghold Date: 26 Feb 1998 22:18:45 GMT From: odariani@aol.com (ODariani) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.misc aren't these things great? i am very impressed with the new walls, excepting wall of razors, which dies horribly to mogg fanatic. wall of essence, or wall of thanks for attacking, keeps creatures away until an opponent has played enough to do damage (usually three creatures are required). its discouraging factor makes it a power card against sligh and other fast beatdown decks. definitely worth using in control decks. wall of souls, or wall of don't attack me, is incredible in offensive decks with removal. imagine using it in a deck with big creatures, bolts (shocks) and incinerates. an opponent cannot profit from an attack so he/she holds back for defense. in a deck with big creatures, that means double blocks which, with removal, traslates into card advantage. wall of tears, or wall of go away, is a good addition to bounce decks and temporal control in general. combined with propaganda, this traslates into a huge mana advantage which can be furthur exploited with winter orb, mana leak and power sink. this can be incredible, leading to an easy win while an opponent's frustratingly trying to do some damage. wall of blossoms, or wall of gaea's blessing is, flat out, incredible. by giving up turn two, a green player can effectively shut down an opponent's early game offense. drawing a card makes this one of the best walls ever designed, as it only costs two mana. besides the obvious use of this wall with wildebeests and tradewind rider, the card is solid. it stops one creature from dealing damage ever. absolutely incredible. i think wotc has done a fine job of designing four useful walls. kudos to them for making the green wall the best of the lot. omeed.
