Subject: Farewell from Jason Carl Date: Wed, 2 Dec 1998 09:35:25 -0800 From: Jason Carl To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com Farewell! Everyone says goodbye, eventually. It's my turn today. I joined the DCI just over three-and-a-half years ago, in the spring of 1995. We ended that year with about a thousand members in North America and a hundred sanctioned tournaments, and we thought that was pretty hot stuff. Today, as I write this, the DCI has more than a quarter of a million members worldwide, and routinely sanctions more than four thousand tournaments each month. You can imagine my feelings of pride and awe when I think of how very far the DCI has come! It's time for me to move on to a new challenge now. On December 1 I will join the TSR Inc. creative team as a roleplaying game designer. I wanted design roleplaying games from the moment I picked up my first 20-sided die, and I am absolutely thrilled to have the chance to pursue this dream! It's been my honor to be associated with this phenomenal organization, and my privilege to work with some of the most innovative and brilliant minds I have ever met, in this or any other field. I will miss not only my fellow DCI staffers in all the Wizards offices, but also the players, judges and tournament organizers whose contributions and enthusiasm helped make the DCI such a great success! I believe the DCI's members have always been its most valuable asset, and that the organization owes its strength and vitality largely to their staunch support. Be well, Jason Carl Former DCI Policy Director Wizards of the Coast
