Subject: [DECK] All-Tempest Fugitive Druid deck Date: Fri, 7 Nov 1997 16:37:16 -0500 From: Leslie Turek Kenneth Ho commented that no one has posted any Tempest-only decks. Okay, here's one I'm working on. It's a creature swarm deck that uses the Fugitive Druid/Flickering Ward combo for extra card-drawing. I haven't done much play-testing, and the sideboard is a little sketchy, but I think it has promise. Fugitive Swarm 4 Metallic Sliver 1 4 Muscle Sliver 1G 4 Skyshroud Elf 1G 4 Trained Armodon 1GG (maybe replace with Ranger en-Vec?) 4 Fugitive Druid 3G (draw a card whenever you cast an enchantment on it) 3 Apes of Rath 2GG 4 Frog Tongue G (cantrip) 4 Flickering Ward W (can return to hand for W) 4 Overrun 2GGG 1 Field of Souls 2WW (AIH) 2 Repentence 2W 8 Plains 8 Forest 4 Vec Townships 2 Reflecting Pool Sideboard 3 Disenchant 2 Repentance 2 CoP Shadow? 2 Reap? (and Field of Souls if I can get them) The game plan is to get out creatures fast, and then cast an Overrun to pump them up and attack. In the middle game, cast Flickering Ward on Fugitive Druid multiple times to draw a card each time, or cast Frog Tongue (a cantrip) to draw 2 cards. (Or, if things get desparate, use the Wards and Frog Tongue on Apes to make a really good blocker.) Skyshroud Elf helps generate lots of W for the Flickering Ward trick. Repentance is for creature control, although Pacifism would be cheaper and better in some situations. Maybe Pacifism in the main deck and Repentance in the sideboard to take care of creatures with pesky effects? The mana mix seems to be working well. The Reflecting Pools are great with the Vec Townships, but I don't want to go over 2 of them to prevent mana screw. Field of Souls seems good against mass creature destruction, but I haven't figured out what to do about Propaganda (except for Disenchant). A Disenchant or two in the main deck might be nice, but then what to take out? And what else should I be worrying about? -- Leslie Turek
