Date: 18 Jul 1997 09:26:57 GMT I would use 12 creatures, 20 burn, 24 mountains, and 8 "style" cards: 4 Dwarven Miners 4 Suq'ata Lancers 4 Talruum Minotaurs 4 Incinerate 4 Thunderbolt 4 Hammer 4 Torch 4 Fireblast 2 Bosium Strip (ever seen a Fireblast Bosium Stripped? It's ugly.) 2 Final Fortune 4 Stone Rain 24 Mountains (could go 22 and add 2 more cards, perhaps 2 Sandstalkers) My "style" cards are land destruction and recycling. The Fortune is important; it allows you to untap your mana while the opponent is momentarily tapped out for something big and kill them. Basically, if you get them down to about 12-16 with creatures, you can kill them in one turn with the Final Fortune involved somewhere in there. More than 2 seems to clog up the hand early on, unfortunately. Some people like using Goblin Elite Infantry because they're early 2/2's but I prefer Miners to kill Quicksands and Gemstone Mines and such things. And they're 1/2 which is not bad. Also, the Orcish Settlers are excellent creatures, all things considered, but I think I prefer the straightforward Stone Rain in many cases. My personal sideboard is a little weird, to be honest: 4 Gemstone Mines 4 Abeyance 4 Aether Flash 2 Builder's Bane 1 Dingus Staff The Aether Flash/Dingus Staff just kills Ertai/graveyard manipulation decks. Obviously, you make sure you don't cast your knights with that out -- just burn them to death. Abeyance is for Honorable Passage; just Abeyance before torching them out or doing the double Fireblast thing. Otherwise, it's a straightforward deck; some LD, some critters, and a LOT of burn. -The Sophist -- Robert S.
