Date: Wed, 09 Jul 1997 00:00:15 -0400 From: David Eisenstein Subject: PTQ legal Psychic Bloom update Here is the 97 PTQ Cadaverous Vortex 4 Vampiric Tutor 4 Ancestral Knowledge 4 Drain Life 4 Natural Balance 4 Cadaverous Bloom 3 Psychic Vortex 4 Kaervek's Torch 3 City of Solitude 2 Helm of Awakening 4 Prosperity 2 Relearn 4 Gemstone Mine 4 Undiscovered Paradise 2 Lotus Vale 4 Forest 4 Swamp 5 Island 2 Mountain Sideboard 3 Paradigm Shift 3 Infernal Contract 3 Disrupt 3 Bosium strip 3 Snake Basket The play is still to try to get a second turn Ancestral Knowledge out and never use it to remove any cards from the game, just set up your first card or 2 to get what you need to play a Natural Balance followed by a Cadaverous Bloom on the fourth turn. Fifth turn, Psychic Vortex, then Prosperity and then a big Drain Life or Torch; or if you have an extra Prosperity, just save one blue and one red mana and Prosperity for as many cards as you can, then sack them to the Bloom and cast the second Prosperity for twice as many cards. Just remember to always save that one red mana in case you draw a Torch and not a Drain Life. If the Vortex comes into play, try to save one black mana if you have a Vampiric Tutor to tutor for your first card, which should be another Ancestral Knowledge. If you get lucky you will get another Natural Balance and even luckier, also a Lotus Vale ( a great combo ). Once the Vortex is out, always play this combo first chance you get. Then make sure you use every spell you get to its fullest and remember to make sure every third draw includes another Natural Balance. The Relearns are in the deck just in case you draw two or three Natural Balances in your opening hand, because you need those later. Of course you can always use one to get back that Prosperity you just cast to cast a bigger one next, just make sure you can save three blue mana. I hope somebody tries this out for the PTQ.
