I'm Dean Alfar, the DCI Coordinator around these parts and I thought I'd share with you the all-Tempest deck created by our #1 player DINO YU of TEAM KOTIK (who, incidentally, is also the #1 ranked player in the world in Standard, as of 1/26/98). Dino used the Dance of Life to zoom through everyone in the field, effectively negating whatever advantage the Cursed Scroll gave (and players came with plenty). With it's life gaining advantage and the almost minimal artifact removal in Tempest, this deck rules. With this deck, he won the championship, continuing his streak of tourney victories. This deck looks particularly strange and unusual, but trust me once this deck strarts going its really gone... The highest life total reached in a tournament was 140+. This deck plays slowly ... a lot of creature control stalling the game until the combination of corpse dance and bottled gnomes or evincar's justice get going.... In future revisions of the deck I hope to move out white and replace it with blue for Lobotomy and countermagic and propoganda...
