Subject: Big Blue Deck Listing/Article Date: Sat, 24 Jan 1998 12:04:24 -0800 From: marco5 To: fkusumot@ix.netcom.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Big Blue, And some comments/Questions. Heres my big blue I've been playing for about 2 Months. Tell me what you think about it in its current form and answer the questions i have about making some changes. The deck has made the semis/finals of 2 DCI tourneys i've been in. I am currently playtesting some of the changes but I'd still like your ideas. Thanks alot. Current Version 4 Counters,4 Dissipate,3 Dismiss,2 Capsize,4 Impulse, 1 Whispers of Muse,2 Legacy's Allure,3 Propaganda, 4 Man-o-War,4 Ophidians,2 Air Elementals,2 Rainbow Efreets, 2 Waterspout Djinn,4 Quicksands,1 W.Canyons,18 Islands SIDEBOARD:2 Energy Flux,2 Disrupt,2 Firewalkers, 3 Hydroblast,2 Sea Sprites,2 Dream Tides,2 Disks Questions/Comments Greatly Appreciated. Things/CHanges that I'm thinking of doing. I am currently playtesting some of these but lemme know what you think. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) Splashing Black. This has its upsides and downsides. THe upsides are that Lobotomy helps against other Blue decks and would fit in the SB prolly for 1, maybe both the disrupts currently in it. Good green removal with Perish in the SB. This helps alot seeing that both times i lost in the semi's and finals of a DCI tournament it was to GREEN and Green/r. Might find room for 1-2 Terrors in the SB too. And nother good reason is that it helps somehwat against boil and choke. With 6(Prolly) black/blue or rainbow producing non-islands it makes a difference. Boil is a dangerous card to play against. Downsides are the mana burn against some decks and the possible mana screws i might receive. Also dropping the Winding Canyons might hurt. Whatdya YOU think? Heres my predicted listing of the BLUE/b version: 4 Counters,4 Dissipate,3 Dismiss,2 Capsize,4 Impulse, 1 Whispers of Muse,2 Legacy's Allure,3 Propaganda, 4 Man-o-War,4 Ophidians,2 Air Elementals,2 Rainbow Efreets, 2 Waterspout Djinn,4 Quicksands,4 Underground River, 2 Rootwater Depths,18 Islands Sideboard:3 Perish,1 Propaganda,2 Suq'Ata Firewalkers, 3 Hydroblast,1 Sea Sprites,1 Disrupt,2 Lobotomy,2 E.Flux Other things I'm considering doing. 1) Dropping the Whisper for another Props. 2) Playing a 4th Props in the SB. 3) Dropping a Spout or Rainbow to go 4 Props. Seeing a trend here? # of Props is one of the main questions i have asked myself about the main deck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2) Splashing White. This has its upsides and downsides. THe upsides are that Disenchant helps against alot other decks/cards. Good green protection with COP's. This helps alot seeing that both times i lost in the semi's and finals of a DCI tournament it was to GREEN and Green/r.And nother good reason is that it helps somehwat against boil and choke. With 6(Prolly) white/blue non-islands it makes a difference. Boil is a dangerous card to play against. Downsides are the mana burn against some decks and the possible mana screws i might receive. Also dropping the Winding Canyons might hurt. Whatdya YOU think? Note: I've tried the BLUE/b with 3 Perish and 2 Lobotomy in the SB but Perish does not suffice for my needs. THe one shot effect it gives against green isn't enough. COP:Green is a much better choice and also with white i get disenchant, a key card. Other things I'm considering doing. 1) Dropping the Whisper for another Props. 2) Playing a 4th Props in the SB. 3) Dropping a Spout or Rainbow to go 4 Props. Seeing a trend here? # of Props is one of the main questions i have asked myself about the main deck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, I'll let you know whats up.
