Subject: G/r Untouchables Date: Sun, 18 Jan 1998 23:17:12 +0100 From: "Anders Warrby" To: Hi there! Here's a deck I won a local tournament with here in Gothenburg. Metagame here is heavy blue-ish, lots of Capsize and bouncing and Red with pinging and burning. I decided to try something nobody would expect. StOmPy!!! :) I just love the concept, and I think this version is really versatile, and even strong against those nasty control decks. Here's my winner deck from last weekend with a few changes: LAND: 14 Forest 4 Mogg Hollows GREEN: 4 Llanowar Elves 4 Quirion Rangers 4 Mtenda Lions 2 Emerald Charms 3 Wall of Roots 4 River Boa 4 Jolrael's Centaur \ 4 Pincher Beetles / The Untouchables 2 Uktabi Orangutang 2 Lhurgoyf 3 Overrun RED: 2 Goblin Bombardment ARTIFACT: 4 Winter Orb SB: 3 Scragnoth 2 Lifeforce 2 Whirling Dervish 2 Tranquil Domain 2 Choke 2 Blossoming Wreath 1 Uktabi Orangutang 1 Mana Web This deck is strong against control decks, sligh, burn and mostly anything. It just deals heavy quick damage damage and when your opponent think he's safe with a propaganda you just smile and Emerald Charm it... Throw a monkey at those nasty medallions and scrolls.. And lock THEM down with the Orb. :) Are they burning your creatures? Fine, sac them to the Bombardement, either damaging your opponent or killing their creatures too, making your Lhurgoyfs HUGE. :) Have a nice bunch of Untouchables on the table.. maybe 1 Wall of Root and an elf... you grin as your third forest hits the table and you slap down the Overrun and watch the sigh your opponent gives, trying to figure out a way to survive. Overrun is such a good finisher!! Well, now that i've spoken warmly of the deck, i should add something about the weaknesses. I played against a mono white life gainer deck.. we wen't 2-2 over four duels. Orim's prayer is nasty... be sure to have Charms ready for them. Also against black, watch out for Perish. Don't play all creatures at once.. unless you have a Lifeforce out of course. :) Don't play Goyfs unless you can counter the perish.. do play them after the perish though. Goblin bombardment really helps here too. Shoot the critters in something before they die to perish. :) Alright. I hope some people will try this deck, and bring Stompy back to the days of glory! Green rules!!! :) Thank you for your time. /Anders Warrby
