Subject: Reap / Time Warp Deck Date: 5 Jan 1998 15:08:15 GMT From: sheckleyj@aol.com (Sheckley J) Newsgroups: rec.games.trading-cards.magic.strategy Hello all, wanted to let you know about a deck idea i found on the net, twiddled with a bit, and played this past weekend. first off, the deck: 4 Reap 4 Harrow 3 Gaea's Blessing 4 Mystical Tutor 4 Prismatic Lace 3 Time Warp 1 Intuition 4 Impulse 2 Helm of Awakening 2 Sapphire Medallion 4 Lotus Petal 4 Peace Talks 1 Ebony Charm 1 Incinerate 1 Kaervac's Torch 4 Gemstone Mine 2 Undiscovered Paradise 1 Reflecting Pool 7 Island 7 Forest Sideboard is not yet made, but i will most likely be including some or all of the following: Abeyance Chill Disenchant X4B Thumbscrews Whirling Dervish Boomerang Emerald Charm okay, so here's what we discovered: Infinite Mana: If you Primatic Lace 4 of the opponent's permanents, and you have 3 lotus petals and a reap in your graveyard, you can get infinte mana! with a reap in hand, reap for the 3 lotus petals and a reap: sac the lotus petals for at least 1 green and 2, whatever (red, most likely), use the new reap to reap for the 3 lotus petals and a reap repeat until satisfied. use mana generated to throw a torch or two. Choke Sucks: Choke really sucked when played against me. it absolutely destroys the reap/warp combo if it's not destroyed, returned to hand, etc. Stasis or any deck, really, will utterly kill a recursion deck of this nature, i found out the hard way to include some way get rid of nasty hoser permanents. Love those Charms! Also discovered that Ebony Charm works extremely well in a reap deck of any type, i will most likely up the number i put in the deck listed above. Not only is it a mini-drain-life, but if used in response to an opponent's reap, you can remove the cards the opponent wants! They try to reap for a time warp, reap, and incinerate? Ebony charm all three! Combo Killer! besides the above, here's what else happened: I got the combo off 2 out of 3 times. Died once because of Choke (i had no permanent destruction spells except 1 disenchant, and i had to let opp. take another turn so i could reap it instead of the time warp), and of course, got killed because i was only at three life and only had two of his permanents laced. Dunno why everyone's so hard up about Time Warp, it seemed to work perfectly in this deck. I had plenty of mana every turn thanks to harrow, the helm, and the medallion. Really wanted to try the Whirling Dervish bit, where i lace the creatures black, but didn't have a chance. Black-only decks will utterly die against a reap deck, my opp. played one the last game we played, and said he'd never play another one against it ever again! :) k, thanks everyone! comments, etc. accepted, no spam or flames, please.
